About this trip

This full-day trip takes you from your hotel in Hurghada to Luxor by private air-conditioned car or van with a professional driver. The drive takes 4–5 hours, depending on traffic and stops, with a short break for refreshments on the way. Luxor, on the east bank of the Nile in Upper Egypt, is often called the world's greatest open-air museum.

Valley of the Kings

On Luxor's West Bank, the Valley of the Kings is the necropolis of the pharaohs, with more than 60 tombs. Your guide explains their history, architecture and hieroglyphs. Tutankhamun's tomb is here too, but it requires an additional ticket.

Karnak, Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon

The tour also includes Karnak Temple, the mortuary temple of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon, two giant statues of Amenhotep III that have stood for over 3,000 years. Lunch with traditional Egyptian dishes is served at a local restaurant, and the program includes a stop at an alabaster factory.

Return to Hurghada

After the visits, the drive back to Hurghada offers views of the Nile and the Egyptian countryside, usually arriving in the evening.
