About this trip

This full-day trip takes you from Hurghada to Cairo by air-conditioned bus, about 450 km (280 miles) and 6–7 hours each way, depending on traffic and route. A guide in your language accompanies you at the Giza Plateau and the Egyptian Museum, and entrance fees and lunch at a local restaurant are included.

Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx

At the Giza Plateau you see the pyramids of Khufu (Cheops), Khafre (Chephren) and Menkaure (Mykerinos), with the Great Sphinx beside them, and the Valley Temple. The bus parks nearby, and the walk to the main site takes 10–15 minutes. Camel and horse rides are available as optional extras.

Egyptian Museum

The Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square holds a large collection of Egyptian art with thousands of artifacts. About 1–2 hours are spent inside.

Islamic Cairo

The program continues to the Citadel of Saladin with the Mohammed Ali Mosque and ends with quick shopping at the Khan El Khalili bazaar. A dinner or Nile cruise can be added in the evening as an option, before the overnight drive back to Hurghada.

An air-conditioned bus is a comfortable way through Cairo's heavy traffic. It stops at the major attractions without the hassle of parking and is a safer choice for visitors unfamiliar with Cairo's chaotic roads.

  1. Pickup in Hurghada

    Pickup around 6:00 AM and a drive of about 450 km (6–7 hours, depending on traffic and route) by air-conditioned bus.

  2. Pyramids of Giza

    Arrival in Cairo around 12:00 PM and visit to the Giza Plateau: the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple. The bus parks nearby, and the walk to the main site takes 10–15 minutes. Camel or horse rides are optional.

  3. Lunch

    Lunch at a local restaurant around 2:00 PM.

  4. Egyptian Museum

    Visit to the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square around 3:00 PM, with about 1–2 hours inside.

  5. Islamic Cairo and Khan El Khalili

    Around 5:00 PM, the Citadel of Saladin and the Mohammed Ali Mosque, followed by quick shopping at the Khan El Khalili bazaar around 7:00 PM.

  6. Optional dinner or Nile cruise

    Around 8:00 PM, an optional dinner or Nile cruise.

  7. Return to Hurghada
