About this trip
This two-day tour covers the highlights of Cairo and Alexandria. Day one is spent in Cairo at the Giza pyramids, the Egyptian Museum and Coptic Cairo, with an overnight stay in the city. On day two you travel to Alexandria on the Mediterranean coast to see its citadel, Roman monuments and modern library before returning to Cairo.
Day 1: Cairo
The day starts early at the Pyramids of Giza, around 8 AM, to avoid the crowds and the midday heat. You explore the Great Pyramid, the Pyramid of Khafre and the Sphinx, with an optional camel or horse ride around the site. Late morning is spent at the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square and its ancient artifacts, followed by lunch at a local Egyptian restaurant, for example koshari.
In the afternoon you visit Coptic Cairo: the Hanging Church, the Coptic Museum and the Ben Ezra Synagogue, with an optional short walk around Khan El Khalili Bazaar for souvenirs. The evening ends with dinner on a Nile cruise or at a traditional Egyptian restaurant and an overnight stay in Cairo.
Day 2: Alexandria
An early departure around 6–7 AM brings you to Alexandria in approximately 2.5–3 hours. The morning covers Qaitbay Citadel, a historic fortress on the Mediterranean coast, a walk along the Corniche for photos and views, and the ancient Roman landmarks of Pompey's Pillar and the Roman Amphitheatre.
After a seafood lunch near the Corniche, you visit the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a modern library with impressive architecture and museums, with an optional relaxing walk in the Montaza Palace Gardens with sea views. You then drive back to Cairo (approximately 2.5–3 hours).
