Parasailing in Hurghada: Flight, Safety and Tips
Parasailing in Hurghada lifts you typically 30–50 meters above the Red Sea behind a speedboat. No training or swimming skills needed; flights last about 7–15 minutes.

Parasailing is a water-based adventure in which you fly above the sea while a boat pulls you. You are securely harnessed to a large parachute, called a parasail, and lifted into the air as the speedboat moves forward. In Hurghada it is a popular Red Sea activity that combines great views with an adrenaline rush, and no prior training is needed.
What Happens During the Flight
- No special training: The crew briefs you and handles the boat and equipment.
- Takeoff: You take off from a speedboat. You are attached to the parasail, and the boat speeds up to create lift.
- In the air: You rise smoothly, typically 30–50 m (100–165 ft) above the Red Sea, with views of the coastline, coral reefs and beaches.
- Flight time: Around 7–15 minutes in the air, depending on conditions.
- Landing: You are gently lowered back onto the boat platform.
Who Can Do It
- Beginners and non-swimmers: You don't need previous experience or swimming skills.
- Children and adults: Children can usually take part, often from about age 6.
- Solo or together: You can fly alone, in tandem (two people) or, on some flights, as a group of three.
- Safety gear: Life jackets and secure harnesses are provided, and the crew is trained to monitor every flight.
What You Will See and Feel
From above you get a bird's-eye view of Hurghada's coastline, the clear Red Sea water and the marine life below. The first lift is exciting, but once you are in the air the flight feels calm, almost like floating. Photos or videos are available, sometimes for an extra fee.
